The Commodity Futures Commission (CFTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), two of the leading financial regulatory bodies in the US, have rescheduled a joint event planned to address the regulatory compliance process for crypto assets.

The event, previously scheduled for January 27, has been postponed to Thursday, January 29, 2026, and will be held at the CFTC headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The event will be attended by Commodity Futures Commission Chairman Michael S. Selig and Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Paul S. Atkins. The two heads of institutions will discuss the position of crypto assets within the US financial system, the alignment of authority and enforcement between regulatory bodies, and how the US can strengthen its global financial leadership in the crypto age. The event is said to be part of efforts to make the US the crypto capital of the world, a goal pursued by US President Donald Trump.

In a joint statement, the CFTC and SEC noted that market participants have long been challenged by unclear and inconsistent regulatory boundaries. The statement added that this joint event aims to advance interagency alignment efforts, fostering innovation on American soil, under American law, and in the best interests of investors and consumers.

The event, titled “CFTC – SEC Compliance Process: US Financial Leadership in the Crypto Age,” will take place between 22:00 and 23:00 Turkish time (UTC+3). The program will include an opening address by SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins, followed by a presentation from CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig. The main part of the event will feature a conversation between the two chairmen, moderated by crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett.

The event, which will take place at CFTC headquarters, will be open to the public and will be streamed live on the Securities and Exchange Commission’s official website.
