Credit Rating Agency Moody’s Reveals When Financial Tokenization Will Happen in Its Latest Report!

Global credit rating agency Moody’s, in its latest report on corporate asset tokenization and the adoption of digital finance, predicted that this transformation will initially proceed slowly among major banks and financial institutions in the US, but will accelerate and spread widely in the future. The assessment highlighted the increasing importance of tokenization in the financial sector.

According to the report, at the current stage, tokenization is mostly applied to relatively simple asset classes such as mutual funds and short-term financial products. However, financial institutions expect that as technology develops, more complex asset classes will also be moved to blockchain-based systems. This process is expected to lead to greater integration of institutional investors and market participants into the system.

Moody’s has outlined three possible scenarios for the future of the financial system: incremental growth, low growth, and rapid expansion. In the most likely scenario, the agency suggests that digital financial infrastructure will strengthen with the proliferation of stablecoins and deposit tokens, but traditional banks and asset management companies will retain their central roles in the sector.

The report also noted that most major banks and financial infrastructure providers have already established digital asset teams and are actively involved in various pilot projects. This indicates that the sector is increasing its preparations for tokenization technology.

Moody’s highlighted that in a rapid adoption scenario, stablecoins could become a fundamental element of on-chain payment infrastructure. Such a development is considered to potentially put pressure on profitability, particularly for traditional payment companies and some banks.

According to experts, the acceleration of tokenization can create a faster, more transparent, and more accessible financial ecosystem in the global financial system while reducing transaction costs. However, clarification of the regulatory framework and maturation of the technical infrastructure are critical to the success of this transformation.
