Worldcoin reached a major milestone this week. The number of daily active users of World App, the first wallet developed for the Worldcoin cryptocurrency project, exceeded one million. This development took place at a time when the value of the project's altcoin, WLD, increased by over 100% in a week.
The rise in WLD's value coincides with a broader market trend where Artificial Intelligence (AI) tokens are on the rise. This follows the launch of Sora, a new text-to-video AI model by OpenAI, a company led by Sam Altman.
Worldcoin introduced the World App in May 2023, pitching it as a tool to “prove your personality online with World ID, claim your Worldcoin tokens, and send digital money worldwide for free.”
Sam Altman, the name behind Worldcoin, has launched very popular artificial intelligence products in recent years, but was criticized for turning OpenAI's open source and non-profit structure into a closed source company. Sam Altman recently set an ambitious goal of raising $8 trillion.
