Circle, a leading global financial technology firm, has announced a strategic collaboration with Sony Block Solutions Labs to enhance the Soneium blockchain ecosystem through the integration of the Bridged USDC Standard.
Circle and Sony Block Solutions Labs Partner to Power the Creator Economy by Enabling USDC on Soneium
The partnership aims to empower content creators and users by facilitating decentralized transactions on Soneium, a public Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain.
As part of this initiative, Soneium will integrate Bridged USDC as one of its primary tokens for value exchange, unlocking new opportunities for content creators to participate in secure and seamless transactions globally.
Soneium is designed to cater to a variety of industries and provides a versatile blockchain platform for content creators, developers, and users worldwide.
Bridged USDC is a digital dollar standard that enables the transfer of value across Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible blockchains and acts as a proxy for native USDC issued on Ethereum.
This allows developers building on Layer 2 blockchains like Soneium to incorporate USDC payments into their decentralized applications (dApps).
The integration ensures continued scalability and functionality by providing options for Soneium to switch to native USDC issuance in the future.
Jeremy Allaire, Co-Founder and CEO of Circle, expressed his excitement about the collaboration:
“We are excited to partner with Sony Block Solutions Labs to reimagine how creativity and innovation are supported in the digital age. This partnership marks a significant milestone for Circle in accelerating the adoption of stablecoins and blockchain technology, enabling creators to thrive in a secure, user-friendly Web3 environment.”
This collaboration highlights the growing importance of decentralized technologies in fostering a global creative economy, with Soneium positioned as a key player in this space.
