According to the latest information reported by Reuters, US prosecutors demanded the arrest of Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the failed cryptocurrency exchange FTX.
New York federal prosecutors today asked the judge to imprison Sam Bankman-Fried ahead of his trial scheduled for October for the collapse of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange.
At the hearing in Manhattan federal court, prosecutor Danielle Sassoon said Bankman-Fried “crossed the line” by communicating regularly with journalists and trying to intimidate a key witness against her.
The request came after Bankman-Fried provided the New York Times reporter with personal correspondence from Caroline Ellison, who runs crypto hedge fund Alameda Research. Ellison, who was also Bankman-Fried's one-time lover, pleaded guilty and is expected to testify against Bankman-Fried.
Prosecutor Danielle Sassoon said, “This latest incident is a continuation of an ongoing operation with the press that now crosses the border.”
