According to breaking news, CCP Games, the makers of EVE Online, announced that they will be building “Eve Frontier” on Ethereum and launching a token.
CCP Games, the creator of the iconic EVE Online, today announced the official name and details of its highly anticipated blockchain project, previously known as Project Awakening. The new game, called EVE Frontier, is a space survival game set in the EVE Online universe. The game will use Ethereum technology and feature a new token economy, continuing CCP’s foray into the blockchain gaming space.
EVE Frontier is an MMO, meaning all players will share the same playing area, creating a dynamic and interconnected environment.
Players are tasked with surviving in the distant future after waking from stasis to find the remains of a collapsed civilization. Using the resources of the Frontier, players will upgrade their ships, fend off rogue AI, and participate in the exploration and colonization of space. Notably, players will also have the ability to create custom currencies and establish markets where goods, services, and reputation can be exchanged.
CCP Games first began raising funds for its blockchain efforts last year, successfully raising $40 million. Over several phases of testing, the game has been refined, and the upcoming Phase IV playtest allows players to sign up for a closed playtest on the EVE Frontier website.
