Earlier in June, the SEC filed a lawsuit against the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance, its CEO Changpeng Zhao, and its US arm, Binance US.
The SEC accused defendants of misusing client funds, providing misleading information to investors and regulators, and violating securities regulations.
While the SEC made these accusations, Binance and CZ did not sit idly by.
According to Bloomberg's report, Binance has hired M. Kendall Day, the former Deputy Attorney General of the Department of Justice (DOJ), to defend themselves in the SEC case.
Day served at the DOJ for 15 years. During this tenure he was also head of the agency's Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Division.
After this role, Day is currently working as a partner in the Washington DC office of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.
There was no statement from Binance or M.Kendall Day on the subject.
Binance continues to strengthen its hand for its legal battle in the SEC case. Because Binance recently announced that it has agreed with former SEC official George Canellos.
