On June 23, the Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority accused Binance of violating Belgium's money laundering and counter-terrorism financing laws for allegedly offering crypto-related services “from countries that are not members of the European Economic Area.”
The court ordered Binance to cease all relevant services in Belgium “with immediate effect” and required it to contact all its customers based in Belgium and return all crypto and private keys in the exchange's possession.
Binance's statement did not specify what changes were made to allow it to continue services for Belgian users.
