Data provided by OKLink shows that there is very little time left for the halving event, which is considered one of the most important events for Bitcoin.
The event is expected to take place on April 23 and there are only 100 days left until this date. The current block reward is 6.25 Bitcoin, but after the halving this reward will drop to 3125 Bitcoin. The countdown has begun and there are only 14,530 blocks left.
However, BTC is not the only cryptocurrency preparing for the halving event. A few other coins are also on the countdown:
- Bitcoin Cash (BCH): The halving is expected to occur in 83 days, 16 hours and 9 minutes, around April 5, 2024. The current block reward of 6.25 will be halved to 3,125.
- Ethereum Classic (ETC): A throttling is planned for approximately June 17, 2024, in 156 days, 10 hours and 37 minutes. The current block reward of 2.56 will drop to 2,048.
- Dash (DASH): A halving will probably occur on July 9, 2024, in 178 days, 7 hours and 49 minutes. The current block reward of 2,053 will decrease to 1.9065.
- Litecoin (LTC): The halving will occur in 1,295 days, 3 hours and 2 minutes, on July 30, 2027. The current block reward of 6.25 will be halved to 3.125.
Halving events will continue until the last Bitcoin is expected to be mined around the year 2140. From this point on, miners will only earn from transaction fees.
Analysts at VanEck, a company that offers a spot Bitcoin ETF, predict that Bitcoin will rise above $48,000 after the halving and expect the event to be “minimally eventful.” They also believe that miners will get through this process with little trouble, thanks to their very developed balance sheets.
