An official account of Palau's Root Name System (RNS) digital citizenship program claimed that Changpeng Zhao (CZ), CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, has joined the program.
However, CZ vehemently denied these allegations, calling them "FUD" (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt), and urging him to avoid using the program's name for false advertising.
Claiming an innovative approach to digital citizenship, Palau's Root Name System has released a statement from their official account, inviting Consensus 2023 participants to join leading names like Vitalik Buterin and Tim Draper as digital residents of one of the world's smallest countries. CZ was also mentioned in the tweet, claiming he was a digital resident through this program.
Palau's Root Name System official account had this to say in the said Tweet:
“Join Vitalik, Tim Draper and CZ as digital residents of one of the smallest countries in the world. Come to our booth at #Consensus2023 to learn how we are creating a legitimate state identity with Palau.”
Responding to this claim, CZ quickly addressed the situation, declaring on his Twitter account that he has no affiliation with Palau's RNS or digital citizenship program: "FUD. I am not an RNS or digital resident of Palau. Please stop using me for false advertising."
