GMO Coin, one of Japan's leading exchanges, announced that it will hold the delayed XRP airdrop.
GMO Coin would distribute Songbird (SGB) tokens to its users who had XRP tokens on the exchange at the time of the airdrop announcement in 2020.
However, the airdrop will not be in the form of SGB distribution as planned. Instead, the exchange will distribute Japanese Yen equivalent to SGB tokens.
It was stated that users eligible for the airdrop were users who held XRP on December 12, 2020, when the snapshot for the Flare (FLR) token airdrop was taken.
Users will receive Japanese Yen equivalent to 0.1511 SGB tokens for every 1 XRP they own as of December 12, 2020.
The airdrop is planned to reach users who qualify for the airdrop by September 29, 2023.
It was also stated that GMO users who sold their XRP after the airdrop snapshot on December 12, 2020 will also be eligible to receive airdrop.
