The PancakeSwap community will consider passing 88% of transaction fees to liquidity providers and reducing the daily CAKE emission from 22,500 to 7,000.

Decentralized cryptocurrency exchange PancakeSwap has launched a new governance vote that could significantly alter the distribution of fee revenues and the production speed of the CAKE token. If the proposal, dubbed “The Flip,” is accepted, 88% of transaction fees in the V3 and Infinity pools will go to liquidity providers.

In the current system, the share received by liquidity providers ranges from 66% to 68% in most pools. The new model aims to give users who provide capital to the pools a higher share of transaction fees.

Another important part of the proposal concerns CAKE emissions. The plan is to gradually reduce the daily amount of CAKE tokens produced from 22,500 tokens to 7,000 tokens. This change represents a reduction of approximately 69%. Lower emissions may reduce the amount of new tokens entering the market, but it alone does not guarantee an increase in the CAKE price.

Voting began on October 21st and will continue until October 24th. If the proposal is accepted by the community, implementation is expected to begin gradually in November. Therefore, the announced rates are not yet in effect.

Prior to the vote, PancakeSwap’s total locked assets increased by approximately 19 percent in a week, rising from $2.02 billion to $2.4 billion. The majority of this increase occurred in V3 pools, where locked assets rose from approximately $336 million to $739 million.

PancakeSwap also accounts for approximately 71% of the decentralized exchange volume on BNB Chain. With a trading volume reaching $4.67 billion over the last seven days, the change in fee distribution is significant for both liquidity providers and CAKE holders.
