Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has revised its confirmed loss amount upwards following the security incident. Bitget CEO Gracy Chen stated that the attack is fully contained and that new unauthorized asset transfers are no longer possible.
According to Chen, the total amount of assets confirmed to have been transferred to addresses controlled by the attackers has risen to approximately $387.5 million. Previously, this figure was reported as $351.6 million. The company stated that the increase was not due to a new attack; rather, the total was updated after additional Zcash (ZEC) and TRON (TRX) assets were identified during on-chain tracking.
Bitget also announced that it will reveal its plan for resuming temporarily suspended withdrawals by 04:00 UTC on September 26 (07:00 UTC+3). Chen stated that the exchange is continuing its security reviews and recovery efforts after the incident was brought under control.
The company also launched a recovery reward program to support the recovery of stolen assets. Under the program, eligible participants who directly contribute to the freezing or recovery of funds will be rewarded with 5% of the successfully recovered or frozen amount.
Following the incident, messages of support for Bitget also came from the crypto sector. Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) stated that it was a “difficult day” for Bitget and that Binance, the BNB Chain ecosystem, and the community would try to provide all possible assistance, sharing the message “Stay SAFU!”.
On the same day, Bybit CEO Ben Zhou, Binance co-CEO Richard Teng, MEXC CEO Vugar Usi, and CoinDCX co-founder Sumit Gupta also publicly offered their support and assistance to Bitget.
