The first statement regarding the security incident at Bitget has come from an exchange representative. According to the representative, the wallets affected by the attack are now under control.
The statement indicated that the majority of the stolen funds originated from hot wallets, while cold wallets were unaffected. This information follows initial on-chain assessments suggesting that some cold wallets may also have been compromised in the early hours of the incident.
A Bitget representative also stated that the losses incurred were large enough to be covered by the Bitget Hedging Fund. Thus, the exchange indicated that the hedge fund was sufficient to prevent the current loss from having a lasting impact on user assets.
The fact that the exchange recently started moving assets remaining in the addresses from which the attacker withdrew funds to different wallets also indicated that security measures were being actively implemented.
