Ontology has temporarily halted mainnet block production after a potential security concern was identified during a routine security check.

This situation has caused the suspension of on-chain transactions while validators conduct an urgent investigation. So far, no security breaches or loss of user assets have been detected.

Security Review Continues

Ontology stated that the decision to halt block production was a preventative measure and not a response to an active attack. No timeframe was specified for restarting the network, and transactions will not be processed until the security review is complete. Users were advised to avoid time-sensitive transactions.

The Ontology team has not yet disclosed the technical nature of the potential security concern or which component triggered the review. Developers and network validators are reviewing the mainnet and related components to determine whether the potential concern poses a real security risk.

User Assets Secure

The network emphasized that the current review did not produce any evidence that user funds were compromised. “ONT, ONG, and other on-chain assets are unaffected according to our current assessment,” the statement said. Ontology did not specify whether it would restrict ONT or ONG deposits and withdrawals during the review.

Ontology announced that block production will resume after the security review and necessary upgrades are completed. Users should refrain from any transactions involving ONT, ONG, or other on-chain assets and should follow updates from the network’s official channels.
