US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that approximately $1 billion worth of Iranian crypto assets have been seized.
According to Bloomberg, Bessent stated that US authorities seized approximately $1 billion worth of digital assets as part of sanctions and inspection activities targeting Iranian-linked crypto assets.
Bessent did not provide details on which cryptocurrencies were involved in the seizure or when the confiscation took place.
Bessent claimed that Iran was “stealing assets worth around $400-500 million per month.”
