Ethereum (ETH) founder Vitalik Buterin has once again commented on Bitcoin.
Vitalik Buterin stated that Bitcoin (BTC) prioritizes decentralization over privacy.
Buterin said at an event in Chiang Mai, Thailand, that Bitcoin has had to prioritize decentralization since its initial launch.
He added that because Bitcoin emphasizes decentralization, its privacy features are not fully optimized.
Buterin explained that early cryptographic technologies tended to rely on centralized institutions for privacy protection because it was practically impossible at the time to ensure both decentralization and privacy.
He added that with advancements in privacy technologies like zk-SNARK over the past decade, some parts of the Ethereum ecosystem have begun exploring ways to bring privacy back to on-chain systems.
