Web3 communication protocol WalletConnect is preparing to launch its native token WCT on Optimism.
Sharing from the X account, WalletConnect stated that it will be doing the WCT airdrop and that registrations for the WCT airdrop will open on September 24.
WalletConnect CEO Houlgrave said that the initial supply of WCT tokens will be capped at 1 billion, of which 18.5%, or 185 million tokens, will be allocated for the initial airdrop.
Houlgrave added that the airdrop will cover WalletConnect’s end users as well as the wallets, applications, nodes, software development kits, and communities that contribute to WalletConnect’s success.
“WCT marks a significant milestone in the WalletConnect Network’s decentralization roadmap and will be the driving force behind the Network’s economic and governance structure. Registrations for the WCT airdrop will open on September 24. The airdrop eligibility structure is based on the use of the WalletConnect Network.”
